Product Description
You'd never know it from a front cover, though this disc, released in 1991 by Columbia on CD, is an all-star date behaving some of a glorious pop, jazz, and essence tunes from a '70s and '80s (and one or dual jazz classics). For starters, a male who organised most of this session, and played synth and piano, is nothing of a than Fred Hersch!!!! Add to this brew Wayne Krantz on guitar, trumpeter Randy Brecker, saxophonist and flutist Dick Oatts, and bassist David Finck, and we have a torpedo studio band. The tunes, either it's Carole King's "Far Away" or Stevie Wonder's "All in Love Is Fair," or Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time," or Jeffrey Osborne's "On a Wings of Love" are winners. Throw in some Duke Ellington ("Mood Indigo"), and Van Morrison ("Moondance") and we have a winning multiple of well-spoken jazz with glorious musicianship, beautiful arrangements, and glorious sound. Recommended. All Music
